Gusu District is located within Suzhou, one of China's leading economic centers, with a population of over 13 million residents and a GDP exceeding RMB 2.7 trillion (~US$400 billion). The city is a major commercial, manufacturing, and innovation hub in the Yangtze River Delta region.

On September 24, the People's Government of Suzhou City (Gusu District) and ShoreVest Partners held a cooperation signing ceremony. Through this partnership, capital investment will be introduced to revitalize high-quality assets. Shi Jiahong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal Committee; Cui Qingjun, Chairman of Bank of Suzhou; Benjamin Fanger, Founder of ShoreVest Partners; and Hui Zheng, Partner at ShoreVest Partners, attended the signing ceremony.

ShoreVest Partners is a foreign-sponsored U.S. dollar private investment firm specializing in private credit investing. With more than 20 years of experience in the sector, the firm has managed over US$2 billion in assets and possesses extensive expertise in credit investments, distressed corporate restructurings, and real estate acquisition and asset management.

First investment: Golden Tower

In September, ShoreVest Partners successfully acquired Golden Tower out of a bankruptcy liquidation. The building is a landmark property located at the gateway to the highly trafficked Guanqian Street-Pingjiang Road commercial district, an area with exceptional connectivity and visibility. The asset had been mired in a distressed debt liquidation, but this sale allows for its revitalization.

Under the public-private cooperation agreement, the two parties will deepen collaboration around the revitalization of existing assets within Suzhou's historic city center. Leveraging its expertise as a credit solution provider, ShoreVest Partners will undertake a comprehensive repositioning of Golden Tower.

Supporting urban renewal in Suzhou

Suzhou's strategic initiatives include focusing on openness, cultural preservation, and high-quality revitalization of assets. Using this partnership as a catalyst, the district will provide end-to-end support for this and other urban renewal efforts. The objective is to transform underutilized spaces into new consumer destinations and economic platforms while advancing Gusu District's role as a leading center for cultural and economic innovation.

Representatives of ShoreVest Partners, district leaders, and other government officials also attended the event.
